Congo (DRC)
Byron Nelly, a former teacher from Goma, joined BethelAid to ensure no child in his village goes without a warm meal or education. Despite losing his own home during conflict, he finds hope in serving others.

Dr Deborah leads a small community kitchen in northern Kenya. She cooks with love and always leaves room for one more plate. “Hunger shouldn't be a childhood memory,” she says.
Betty Namulinda

Betty spends his days not in an office, but in classrooms, villages, and homes—mentoring young people, training local volunteers, and making sure every child feels seen, valued, and safe.

Grace, an orphaned girl living in rural Uganda, once dreamed of going to school but had no means to make it a reality. Through our child sponsorship program, she now receives the education, books, and school supplies she needs. Grace is thriving in her studies and dreams of becoming a nurse. “I never thought I would have the chance to go to school. Now, I believe I can help others like me,” she says with a smile.

David’s village suffered from frequent illnesses due to contaminated water sources. After the construction of a borehole by our Water Project, everything changed. “For the first time, we have clean, safe water,” David explains. “Our children no longer fall sick, and we can focus on improving our lives.” David is now a leader in his community, ensuring the borehole serves generations to come.

Esther was born with HIV and faced stigma and rejection from her community. Thanks to our HIV/AIDS support program, she now has access to healthcare, counseling, and monthly food supplies. “I no longer feel ashamed of who I am,” Esther shares. “I have friends who support me, and I feel stronger every day.” Today, Esther mentors other young people living with HIV, offering them the same hope she was given.
