Sponsor a child

Overview of the Project

The Sponsor a Child Program is designed to support vulnerable children by providing consistent care, access to education, and a stable environment where they can grow and thrive. Many of the children we serve come from challenging backgrounds, including loss of parents, financial hardship, or limited access to basic needs such as food, healthcare, and schooling.

At Bethel Aid, we work closely with guardians and communities to identify children who need support the most. Through sponsorship, each child receives the assistance necessary to stay in school, maintain their well-being, and develop the confidence to build a better future. This support is not temporary—it is structured to create long-term impact in a child’s life. Our approach goes beyond meeting immediate needs. We focus on creating a supportive system around each child, ensuring they are guided, encouraged, and given opportunities to grow. By investing in their education, health, and daily care, we help children move from uncertainty to stability and from vulnerability to possibility.

Meet the Children You Can Support

Behind every sponsorship is a real child with a story, a challenge, and a future full of potential. These children come from families facing difficult circumstances, but with the right support, their lives can be transformed.

Different ways sponsorship changes a child's life

Bethel Aid’s child sponsorship programme takes a holistic approach addressing a child’s physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual wellbeing as one whole, not separate boxes to tick.

Protects children from exploitation

Poverty leaves children exposed to child labour, early marriage, and trafficking. Our programme keeps children enrolled, supported, and safe within a network of people who know them.

Ensures every child is fed and healthy

Sponsored children receive daily nutritious meals, regular medical check-ups, vaccinations, and access to clean water , the basic physical foundations every child deserves.

Keeps children in school and learning

We cover school fees, uniforms, books, and supplies so that cost is never the reason a child stays home. We track each child’s attendance and step in with extra support wherever needed.

What our programme delivers

Keeps children in school and learning : We cover school fees, uniforms, books, and supplies so that cost is never the reason a child stays home. We track each child’s attendance and progress, stepping in with extra support wherever a child is struggling to keep up.

Restores hope and emotional wellbeing : Many of our children have experienced loss, trauma, and rejection before they ever reach us. Through consistent care, counselling, and a personal relationship with their sponsor, children rediscover that they are valued and that their future is worth believing in.

Builds tomorrow’s community leaders : The children we support today are Uganda’s next teachers, nurses, and local leaders. Through mentorship, life skills training, and vocational guidance, we equip them not just to survive but to lead, serve, and uplift the communities they come from.

Protects children from exploitation and harm : Poverty leaves children exposed. Without school, without supervision, and without stable homes, children in Uganda face real risks, child labour, early marriage, and exploitation.

How child sponsorship works

Sponsoring a child is a simple and meaningful way to make a lasting impact. Our process is designed to ensure that your support reaches the children who need it most and is used effectively to improve their lives over time.

01. Identify Children in Need

We work closely with local communities and guardians to identify children who are most in need of support due to poverty, loss of parents, or limited access to basic needs.

02.Connect You to a Child

Once you choose to sponsor, your support is linked to a child in the program. This ensures that your contribution is directed toward real and specific needs.

03. Provide Ongoing Support

The child receives consistent support, including education, basic care, and guidance. This helps them stay in school and grow in a stable environment.

04.Provide Consistent Support

The child receives ongoing support, including education, daily care, and guidance to help them grow in a stable environment.

05.Monitor Progress

We track the child’s development to ensure they are benefiting from the program and making progress in their education and well-being.

06.Build a Better Future

With continued support, children gain confidence, stay in school, and develop the skills they need to create a brighter future.

Frequently Asked Questions

Child sponsorship is a monthly commitment that provides one specific child with education, healthcare, nutrition, emotional support, and mentorship. You are matched with an individual child, you follow their journey, and your support goes directly toward their development and wellbeing.

Your monthly contribution is pooled with other sponsorships to fund the full programme your child is enrolled in. This ensures consistent, reliable care across every area of their life — not just one isolated need.

Yes. School fees, uniforms, books, and stationery are all covered through our programme. We also track each child’s attendance and academic progress, stepping in with additional support wherever a child is struggling to keep up.

Sponsorship is a long-term commitment. We ask sponsors to stay with their child throughout the programme, which typically continues until the child has completed their education and gained the skills to live independently. The longer the commitment, the deeper the impact.

Yes. You can write letters to your child and they will write back. You will also receive photos and annual updates so you can follow their growth and know that your support is working.

In the rare case that a child exits the programme , due to relocation, family circumstances, or programme completion we will inform you promptly and give you the option to be matched with another child who is waiting for a sponsor.

Yes. We welcome sponsors who wish to visit Uganda and meet the child they support in person. Please get in touch with our team to discuss how a visit can be arranged safely and meaningfully.
