Donate a Pad. Keep a girl in school. Restore her dignity.
A sanitary pad costs very little. But for a girl growing up in poverty in Uganda, not having one means missing school every single month falling behind, losing confidence, and slowly disconnecting from the future she deserves. You can change that.
The problem
Every month, thousands of girls across Uganda and East Africa face a choice no child should have to make. When a girl reaches adolescence without access to sanitary pads, her options are limited and undignified. She may use scraps of cloth, paper, or nothing at all. She may simply stay home. And when she stays home for one week every month, she misses lessons, examinations, and falls behind her peers who have something she does not.
Over the course of a full school year, that adds up to weeks of lost education. Over several years, it can mean the difference between completing school and dropping out entirely.
This is not a minor inconvenience. It is a structural barrier that affects girls at precisely the age when their education matters most. It compounds with poverty, with stigma, and with the already limited opportunities available to girls in vulnerable communities. And it is entirely preventable.
What We Do
Why it matters beyond hygiene
Sponsoring a child is a simple and meaningful way to make a lasting impact. Our process is designed to ensure that your support reaches the children who need it most and is used effectively to improve their lives over time.
01.Girls who miss school fall behind
One week of absence per month is twelve weeks per year. Over a five-year secondary school career, that is more than a full school year lost.Girls who fall behind lose marks, lose motivation, and often lose their place in school altogether , not because they are less capable, but because they were never given what they needed to stay
02.Menstrual stigma silences girls at a critical age
In many communities, menstruation is still spoken about in whispers. Girls who lack proper hygiene support feel exposed and ashamed. That shame does not stay at the school gate, it follows them into classrooms, into friendships, and into how they see their own potential.
03.Education is the most powerful tool against poverty
A girl who completes her education is statistically more likely to earn her own income, make her own decisions about her health and family, and invest in the next generation. The return on keeping one girl in school reverberates through her family and her community for decades
04.Dignity is not a luxury
Every human being deserves to manage their own body with privacy and dignity. For girls growing up in poverty, this basic right is often denied , not through malice, but through neglect and a lack of resources. Donate a Pad says plainly: this girl matters. Her comfort matters. Her presence in school matters. And we are going to do something about it.
